Why I Created This Workshop

As a home school mom, I've spent years exploring curriculum options, trying to find the best fit for my children. Along the way, I realized something important: many boxed curricula weren't designed with home school families in mind.

Some were overwhelming, requiring hours of planning, preparation, and busywork. Others felt too surface-level, covering language arts skills without helping parents understand how those skills connect and build over time. And every year seemed to require purchasing a new curriculum, creating an ongoing expense for families.

I wanted something different.

I wanted to understand what skills my children actually needed to learn, how reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary fit together, and how to create a meaningful learning experience without relying on an expensive boxed curriculum.

Through homeschooling my own children, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English, and pursuing graduate studies in Educational Technology and Instructional Design, I began studying how skills develop and how learning experiences are designed.

I created The Middle Grades Home school Language Arts Blueprint to help home school parents confidently plan language arts for grades 4–8. My goal is to help you move beyond simply following a curriculum and understand how to create an Language Arts plan that works for your child, your goals, and your home school.
